After 4 people road the northern sections this last weekend (1 of them being me), I have some new feedback and have altered those sections slightly.
1. The Duluth section (Track 7) was altered to include Hawk Ridge and Seven Bridges Road. Hawk Ridge offers beautiful views and also an opportunity to watch Eagles and Hawks migrate in the fall (there is a festival there next weekend BTW). Seven Bridges road is under construction but offers a unique ride across 7 stone bridges that is very scenic.
2. Thanks to “Get_Bent” on Advrider.com for the feedback that Witt Road in St. Croix State Forest (Track 5) is not actually a road! (even though most maps say it is) The land owner has asked that we stay off from it. So I have reverted back to the original path which takes you on an ATV trail across a bridge and onto Saint Croix Forest Road north to Markville.
3. I added Vermillion Falls as a Waypoint just north of Echo Lake (Track 8). This is an incredibly beautiful spot to snap some photos and stay a while.
Except for an obscene amount of road construction in Duluth, the trail was incredible this weekend. I hope everyone can get out and enjoy it before it gets too cold. Camping Saturday night was already a bit nippy!
All the maps were updated this morning to fix a couple discrepancies, and to also include seven bridges road in Duluth. This is such a pretty route near Duluth I had to include it even if it costs you some time getting further North.
A couple guys from advrider.com tackled the trail in the 100 degree August heat this week. Hats off to them! See photos here.

RallyHound from advrider.com provided some great feedback on the Duluth to Ely segment of the trail. The feedback gets rid of paved Hwy4 heading north out of Duluth and instead heads northeast from Duluth touching lake Superior then zig zaging north to Brimson on mostly dirt roads and finally joining the old route. Besides getting rid of some boring pavement, the change also uses a twisty segment of Hwy 1 south of Ely and brings back Skyline Drive in Duluth. Overall, the change brings in about 20 more miles of trail but makes this section of the trip much more interesting. Google map, GPX, GBD, and Turn-by-Turn directions are all updated.
The TMAT has been updated. Two of the shorter tracks were combined into one. A more dirt based route near Stillwater was selected. Also, a couple of new waypoints were added.
The Trail Narrative on the “About the Trail” page has been updated too.
Garmin Database format (.gdb) tracks are now available for the Trans-Minnesota Adventure Trail, Nemadji, and Saint Croix trails.
This version simplifies a couple routes, fixes a couple of backtrack errors, and adds back in the waypoints missing in the previous version
Fire up your GPS’s! The whole Trans-Minnesota Adventure Trail is now mapped in a GPX file. The file includes some important waypoints as well. There is no reason to wait. Plan your trip today! There are 10 tracks in total and just over 650 miles of Roads and Trails. See the Maps page for more info.
