Changing things up a bit…

March 9, 2011

As of today this website is changing its name from “Trans-Minnesota Adventure Trail” to “Minnesota Adventure Riders”.  The URL stays the same (http//minneadv.info), the blog stays the same, and the hosting of information about the TMAT stays the same.

What changes is that the site will begin to bring you more information about meeting other riders, organizing trail rides, and in general building a better community in Minnesota for Adventure/Dual Sport riding.  So stay tuned for some more changes.

Sound good?  Sound off in the comments.  Your feedback is important!

This online mag doesn’t cover Minnesota events, but it can still be a good read and is an excellent source of info on Wisconson and Michigan events.

“Cheesehead trail” now posted

March 1, 2011

For those of you wanting some guidance on how to connect from the Trans-Minnesota Adventure Trail to the Trans-Wisconsin Adventure trail your wait is over.  The Maps page now contains both a northern and southern route to the beginning and end of the Wisconsin trail.  This basically now forms a “loop” that can be followed for an epic moto-adventure.

Flooded Trails

February 28, 2011

In case you are wondering, all that snow that is sitting outside your window won’t last long.  Spring is only a few weeks away.  The record snowfall WILL result in flooding.  The MN DNR has posted a site that attempts to predict where the flooding will be worst.  This is a reminder to all riders to watch for trail closing signs and check out MN DNR websites BEFORE going riding this Spring.  Chances are that many trails or rural roads will be closed.

New routes being added

February 27, 2011

The snow isn’t letting up here in the northland. So time to hunker down and work out a return route from International Falls back down to Iowa.  If you have some ideas for this route feel free to use the Contact Us link to send us the info.  If you view the current map you will find a route is already proposed.  That route will be refined and an “official” route will be finished before riding season.

Stay warm…

Spring Bike Shopping

February 18, 2011

This site has been around for a while, but it is new to me: http://www.bikefinds.com/ .  You can view a map of every enduro or dual sport for sale by state or region.

Spring is the time to shop for bikes.  Everyone seems to be cleaning out the garage and getting rid of stuff.

New photos added

February 16, 2011

New photos have been added to the Map.  Since DualSportMaps.com allows photos to be embedded right into the map I figure its a good way for people to see the terrain before they actually make the trip.
If you have photos from your adventure on the TMAT please use the Contact page to send them to us.  We will add them to the Map.

This is a great way to break out of your cabin fever and see the latest products on the market. KTM and BMW appear to be no-shows though. Hmmmm…maybe next year? 1 day tickets are $15, but when you buy online you can opt to purchase a $15 bikebandit.com gift certificate and get a ticket free!
