New AWD Dual Sport from Christini

May 1, 2012

If you are familiar with Christini you know they have been making aftermarket conversion kits for dirt bikes that enable limited slip drive of the front wheel.  Pretty cool products and well loved by those who want somewhat of an exotic conversion to get them over steep hills, rocks, etc.  However, I just heard that they will be producing a complete DS bike this year.  Rumor also has it that it is based on a CRF450 engine.  So this could be a very sweet DS setup for some folks.  Not sure what local shops might carry it.  Sound off in the comments if you know of any Minnesota Christini distributors. After laughing for a bit when I first saw it, I then thought….hmmm…yep, I’d buy one.  🙂  I guess you could throw knobbies and camo paint on any two wheeled vehicle and I ‘d buy it though.

TMAT now on Android

July 26, 2011

Thanks to ADV member “CraftyCoder” you can now download the Trans-Minnesota Adventure Trail route and associated maps directly to your Android Phone and use the Phone’s GPS capability to guide you along the trail.  See this discussion thread for more info: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691537

This is really a great option for people who do not want to buy a dedicated GPS unit or futz around with transferring GPX files to your PC and then your GPS.

Riding and Fishing

June 16, 2011

Just a note to encourage people to break up their long rides by stopping at hidden fishing holes along the way and casting a few times to see what hits. Minnesota Dual Sport trails contain some gorgeous fishing spots that no one else is using because they are too hard for a normal vehicle to get to.

This doesn’t have to be complicated either. I have seen many posts on discussion boards about how to pack your fishing gear on your bike.  People have concocted complex systems for attaching their gear and poles etc.   Some even give up because it is too heavy or cumbersome. I really don’t think it has to be that hard.  See the video below, then add a pole and lures to your packing list for your next trip.
