Minnesota Adventure Riders

FYI…Leo’s South is advertising a Adventure Motorcycle Movie night.  It has been added to the 2013 Events.  Nice to see a local dealer bring the ADV community together.  Who’s going?  Sound off in the comments.

We posted a survey a few weeks back regarding the idea of a swap meet being held this Spring.  There was pretty good feedback from that survey showing many people had stuff to sell, and many more would be interested in buying.  The swap meet  is now scheduled for April 6th from 9-Noon at Crosby Farm Park in Saint Paul. The location was moved from the south side of the metro to make it more centrally available to folks.

I am excited to see what people show up with.  So start cleaning out the garage and shed, slap some price tags on that gear and parts you aren’t using anymore, and bring it to Saint Paul on the 6th of April!

Some of us on the MinneADV eMail list have been discussing the idea of a Swap Meet this spring.  It seems like there is decent interest and sounds like a good excuse to get together.  It has been recommended to have it before the riding season really takes off.  So what do you say?  Are you interested in such an event?  Would you have stuff to sell?  Just fill out the poll below and tell us what you think.  That will help us gauge interest to see if it is worth the effort to put together.

Assumptions:  Date is April 6th, Saturday morning.  No charge to browse or sell.  Bring your own table, boxes, etc. to display your merchandise.  No cruiser or sport bike stuff, let’s keep this focused on Adventure and Dual Sport parts, gear, whole bikes, etc.  Space to setup your stuff and some coffee/donuts will be provided.

It’s that time of year again.  Come out of hibernation and start thinking about riding in 2013 at the IMS.  Even though the main website lists Lois Pryce as speaking on Saturday, Lois has emailed me and let me know she will NOT be attending.  Too bad!

Last weekend was the Fall Theilman trailride put on by the Golden Eagles club.  Here is a ride report, video, and photos sent in by Eric K.:

The Thielman Trail Ride is a very well organized event. This was my first time attending, and I could not have been more pleased with the day. The sound check and registration went quickly and smoothly. There was plenty of parking for everyone, and many people were camping there for the weekend. Families were seen throughout the grounds with some choosing to bring bikes for everyone, and others were divided up with half the family riding, and the other half just enjoying the beautiful day and the camping. I had a chance to meet a number of people during the day on Saturday, and was always greeted with a friendly smile, an honest handshake, and many good stories.

New ride posted for this Saturday in the North Metro near Carlos Avery.

Las Vegas Round 1 results are in.  If you have never heard of EnduroCross then check out the video below.  It is an arena sized and shortened version of an enduro.  But for what it lacks in length it makes up for in monster obstacles.  I am quite in awe every time I watch a race, maybe more in awe that there are female competitors that actual finish.  I know I couldn’t!

What happens when you enter a F800GS into a dirtbike race?  Great video for one.  The shear number of bikes bursting out of the gate is pretty amazing.  The fact that he finished the Stumpjumper Desert 100 the with the heavy BMW is also pretty cool too.  Now how do we get an event like this going in Minnesota?
